June IND donating sales and streams to Greater Lafayette Immigrant Allies for Global Diversity Awareness Month

Between spending more time with their growing families, heavier day job workloads and COVID-19 evasion efforts, June IND bandmates Chris June and Emily Larimer have watched their weekend warrior status diminish to zero (for now). After releasing two new EP’s over the last year and watching them collect dust, the Lafayette rock duo launched the #philanthrocky initiative in August to support Greater Lafayette area non-profits and make their music work for the community.

Each month through July 2021, all revenue from June IND’s music streams and sales will be given to a Greater Lafayette area organization addressing issues related to arts access, diversity, education, the environment, equality, homelessness, human rights, hunger, or social justice. Beneficiaries will be identified by causes linked to various awareness months throughout the year.

Aligning with Global Diversity Awareness Month, the #philanthrocky beneficiary for October 2020 is Greater Lafayette Immigrant Allies. GLIA’s focus is fellowship with, advocacy for, and support of immigrants in our community and nation. For more information about Greater Lafayette Immigrant Allies, visit the GLIA Facebook page.

Join June IND’s effort to support GLIA:

Details on additional non-profit beneficiaries and further efforts and events to support them will be forthcoming. For more information, message June IND on FacebookTwitter or Instagram.

About June IND

Two shots of optimism are most welcome today, especially from Lafayette rock duo June IND. The band consisting of decades-long friends and collaborators Chris June and Emily Larimer recently released “First Annual Meeting of Optimists Vols. 1 and 2,” two EPs recorded at a time when you could do that without trepidation. Clock’s ticking, let’s crank up more June IND streams for Food Finders

There are two really important things on the June IND to-do list for the morning of Thursday, October 1, 2020:

  • We’re going to calculate how many sales, streams and tips we had for September.
  • We’re going to send all of that money to Food Finders Food Bank.

We’d like to make that amount as large as possible and could use a hand (or ears):

Three minutes, a dollar or five will be supporting Food Finders’s efforts to provide food for people in need and to educate, advocate, and address food insecurity in North Central Indiana.

If you can help make our music work for the community, the links are between the lines above.

You can also donate directly to Food Finders and sign up to volunteer here:

Thank you.

Well, that escalated quickly. Remember this (June IND to return to The Bombshelter in March to record new music)? We’re supposed to be at the Bombshelter Recording Studio recording with Dan Precision right now…

The Shirley Martin Scholarship for Young Scholarship is sponsored by the Songwriters Association of Mid-North Indiana, or SAMI. Named in memory of one of SAMI’s first members, the scholarship is an opportunity for young songwriters to bring their creative voices to a panel of seasoned songwriters for critique, guidance, and encouragement. An award of $500 to be used toward the songwriter’s musical endeavors is awarded to the first place winner, while other recognitions within the contest are first runner-up, second runner-up, and the Mike Lane Horizon award. More than just a contest, though, the Shirley Martin Scholarship is an opportunity for young people to make connections and build their songwriting skill and knowledge, and to enter the songwriting community through the members and supporters of SAMI. Kickstarter: First Annual Meeting of Optimists Vol. 2

We’re heading back to the Bombshelter in Chicago next month to record new songs with Dan Precision for First Annual Meeting of Optimists Vol.2. Help us get there & claim some cool rewards by backing our Kickstarter Project!

New Music: First Annual Meeting of Optimists Vol. 2!

By the end of this month, we’ll be launching a Kickstarter Campaign to put more music in your ears and taps in your toes. Here’s a preview and advance notice that we’re going to be asking if we can “borrow, like, five bucks.”

First Annual Meeting of Optimists Vol. 2?
Where’s Vol. 1?!?
Well, we wanted to show you that we were serious about the project, so Vol. 1 is already completed. In fact, we’ve included it as a reward for helping fund the production of Vol. 2!
Here’s our vision: We have a total of 13 new songs that we’re planning to release for the First Annual Meeting of Optimists project. In late March 2019, we spent a few days with Dan Precision at The Bombshelter in Chicago recording, and then a couple of weeks talking, texting, and emailing until the mixes were complete. We are tentatively scheduled to return in September to knock out (or rock out) whatever tracks we’re able to fund through this campaign.
We see this Vol. 2 campaign going one of several ways…
    1. We fail and nobody gets to hear the other 10 songs. 😦
    2. We fund Vol. 2 and start the same cycle over in October for Vol. 3.
    3. We double our goal & fund Vol. 2 and 3 and start the same cycle over in October for Vol. 4
    4. We DOMINATE our goal & fund Vol. 2-4… then we can start finishing the songs that are coming out after these (Seriously, they are already started).
We will be thrilled if you’re able to help us start with Vol. 2!
