About June IND

Two shots of optimism are most welcome today, especially from Lafayette rock duo June IND. The band consisting of decades-long friends and collaborators Chris June and Emily Larimer recently released “First Annual Meeting of Optimists Vols. 1 and 2,” two EPs recorded at a time when you could do that without trepidation. Under the guidance of Dan Precision (Rise Against, 88 Fingers Louie, The Mound Builders) at The Bomb Shelter Recording Studio in Chicago, June IND’s newest batch of anthemic tunes explode with captivating hooks and tightly harmonized vocals. About Shirley Martin Scholarship for Young Songwriters

The Shirley Martin Scholarship for Young Scholarship is sponsored by the Songwriters Association of Mid-North Indiana, or SAMI. Named in memory of one of SAMI’s first members, the scholarship is an opportunity for young songwriters to bring their creative voices to a panel of seasoned songwriters for critique, guidance, and encouragement. An award of $500 to be used toward the songwriter’s musical endeavors is awarded to the first place winner, while other recognitions within the contest are first runner-up, second runner-up, and the Mike Lane Horizon award. More than just a contest, though, the Shirley Martin Scholarship is an opportunity for young people to make connections and build their songwriting skill and knowledge, and to enter the songwriting community through the members and supporters of SAMI.
