About June IND

Two shots of optimism are most welcome today, especially from Lafayette, Indiana rock duo June IND. The band consisting of decades-long friends and collaborators Chris June and Emily Larimer recently released “First Annual Meeting of Optimists Vols. 1 and 2,” two EPs recorded at a time when you could do that without trepidation, and single “Come to Hand” in times of concern. Under the guidance of Dan Precision (Rise Against, 88 Fingers Louie, The Mound Builders) at The Bomb Shelter Recording Studio in Chicago, June IND’s anthemic tunes explode with captivating hooks and tightly harmonized vocals. Lafayette, IN rock band donates $1,500 to community organizations through #philanthrocky initiative

June IND bandmates Chris June and Emily Larimer launched their #philanthrocky Music for a Cause initiative in August 2020 to make their music work for the community during the pandemic by supporting Greater Lafayette, Indiana organizations addressing issues related to arts access, diversity, education, the environment, equality, homelessness, human rights, hunger and social justice.

Without playing any in-person shows, the rock duo raised over $1,500 from music sales, streams and tips to support the Songwriters Association of Mid-North Indiana (SAMI), Food Finders Food Bank, Greater Lafayette Immigrant Allies (GLIA), LTHC Homeless Services, the Greater Lafayette Legal Defense Fund, the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette, the Tippecanoe Arts Federation After School Arts Program, Purdue Black Cultural Center, YWCA Greater Lafayette, HomesteadCS, the Public Schools Foundation of Tippecanoe County, Pride Lafayette and NICHES Land Trust.

Since the annual campaign is over and the pandemic is not, Chris and Emily are committing to another year of support.

Between spending more time with their growing families, heavier day job workloads and COVID-19 evasion efforts, June IND bandmates Chris June and Emily Larimer have watched their weekend warrior status diminish to zero (for now). After releasing two new EP’s over the last year and watching them collect dust, the Lafayette rock duo launched the #philanthrocky initiative in August to support Greater Lafayette area non-profits and make their music work for the community.

Each month through July 2021, all revenue from June IND’s music streams and sales will be given to a Greater Lafayette area organization addressing issues related to arts access, diversity, education, the environment, equality, homelessness, human rights, hunger, or social justice. Beneficiaries will be identified by causes linked to various awareness months throughout the year.

Aligning with Global Diversity Awareness Month, the #philanthrocky beneficiary for October 2020 is Greater Lafayette Immigrant Allies. GLIA’s focus is fellowship with, advocacy for, and support of immigrants in our community and nation. For more information about Greater Lafayette Immigrant Allies, visit the GLIA Facebook page.

Clock’s ticking, let’s crank up more June IND streams for Food Finders

June IND (with special guest Justice Fuller) performs an unplugged streaming show to raise funds for Food Finders Food Bank.

Clock’s ticking, let’s crank up more June IND streams for Food Finders

There are two really important things on the June IND to-do list for the morning of Thursday, October 1, 2020:
  • We’re going to calculate how many sales, streams and tips we had for September.
  • We’re going to send all of that money to Food Finders Food Bank.

We’d like to make that amount as large as possible and could use a hand (or ears):
Three minutes, a dollar or five will be supporting Food Finders’s efforts to provide food for people in need and to educate, advocate, and address food insecurity in North Central Indiana. If you can help make our music work for the community, the links are between the lines above. You can also donate directly to Food Finders and sign up to volunteer here: Thank you. – Chris and Emily
