June IND donating March music sales and streams to Younger Women’s Task Force of Greater Lafayette for Women’s History Month

Each month through July 2022, Lafayette, Indiana rock band June IND is donating music sales and streams through its #philanthrocky music for a cause initiative to a Greater Lafayette area organization addressing issues related to arts access, diversity, education, the environment, equality, homelessness, human rights, hunger or social justice. Beneficiaries will be identified by causes linked to various awareness months throughout the year.

Aligning with Women’s History Month, the #philanthrocky beneficiary for March 2022 is the Younger Women’s Task Force of Greater Lafayette. YWTF of Greater Lafayette is a community founded on the belief that we can work within and beyond the women’s movement to change the things we care about. About June IND
Two shots of optimism are most welcome today, especially from Lafayette, Indiana rock duo June IND. The band consisting of decades-long friends and collaborators Chris June and Emily Larimer recently released “First Annual Meeting of Optimists Vols. 1 and 2,” two EPs recorded at a time when you could do that without trepidation, and single “Come to Hand” in times of concern. Under the guidance of Dan Precision (Rise Against, 88 Fingers Louie, The Mound Builders) at The Bomb Shelter Recording Studio in Chicago, June IND’s anthemic tunes explode with captivating hooks and tightly harmonized vocals. Why music from June IND will continue to be available on Spotify

Lafayette, Indiana rock band prepared to ride platform into the ground, donate streams to local orgs

We’ve seen it on the news and social media. Artists are pulling their music catalogues from Spotify in protest of, in our opinion, a popular idiot. June IND will keep its music on the platform and here’s why:

Spotify makes money from paid subscriptions and advertising. Canceling subscriptions and committing to not buying from any business that advertises there may be better forms of protest.

If you keep your account and put our music on repeat, we’re donating those funds to local organizations through our #philanthrocky music for a cause campaign. To be specific: when you listen to June IND music on Spotify, we are taking money from the company (and streams away from, in our opinion, the popular idiot) and giving those funds to local organizations that make positive impacts in our community.

If you move to another platform, you can find our music on Apple Music, YouTube Music and probably every other streaming site. We will also take money from them and give it to local organizations.

You can also listen to our music ad free by naming your price and purchasing it from Bandcamp. We will also give that money to local organizations.

-Chris and Emily
